Year: 1
2023/24 Session

Year 1 students on the BSc Theoretical Physics and Applied Mathematics programme must pass at least 100 credits to proceed to Year 2, having failed a maximum of 20 credits from the following modules: Communication Skills and Data Analysis (03 18573), Special Relativity, Probability and Random Processes (03 19749), Sequences and Series (06 34047), and Chaos and Non-linear Systems B (03 20835). All other modules are progression requirements and must be passed to progress to Year 2.

Students must also achieve a mark of at least 70% in Real Analysis (06 34051). A student who fails to achieve this may be permitted, subject to the agreement of the School of Physics and Astronomy, to transfer to stage 2 of a non-Theoretical Physics degree programme in the School of Physics and Astronomy or to a more suitable programme in the School of Mathematics as determined by that School.
